supply chain job search

Getting ahead in the supply chain industry requires hard work, something you should already be aware of. However, it does take a little bit more to find a senior level position in the supply chain discipline than just doing your job and doing it well. You may think that in order to find a senior level position in the supply chain discipline that you have to be active in pursuing it. The thing is, passive candidacy can be much more effective than active job searching. Knowing the right people is often all it takes to advance your career, which is why you should work on building powerful connections.

The following are a few tips on how to build those connections:

  • Connect with individuals you don’t know – This may seem easier said than done. Begin by doing a little bit of research and find out who is worth knowing based on their positions, reputations and affiliations. Speak with your contacts and ask them to use their connections in order to send a request for an introduction. A personal recommendation often works much better than an unsolicited phone call, email or letter.
  • Nurture your connections – Remember, many of the new connections you make may not be able to help get you a job right away. However, if you keep in touch with them, they will keep you in mind. Those that nurture their connections will often receive a job offer out of the blue without having made an attempt to obtain that position.
  • Increase your visibility online – Recruiters will do a lot of their research for job candidates online. This means that the more visible you are online, the better the chances are you’ll be spotted. Put your resume on a number of specialty and niche job sites. Sign up to LinkedIn, Ryze and Zoominfo. Invest in your own website and link it to all of your social media profiles.

Use these tips to passively find a senior level position in the supply chain discipline. Contact us at Optimum Supply Chain Recruiters today for additional job search tips.
